Many spiritual traditions recommend self-inquiry as a means to end suffering through the understanding of oneself and the nature of reality. However, at least in my experience, how to actually go about that inquiry was often left rather vague. For many years I struggled with questions such as Who am I?, never really getting beyond the web of beliefs that created a personal, suffering self. Without a workable structure for exploration, such questions were merely mental gymnastics that offered no freedom. The Living Inquiries provide this structure, offering a practical and effective method for examining the stories and beliefs that give rise to suffering, whether that suffering results in spiritual seeking, a need to engage in an addictive substance or behavior, issues in personal relationships, or a sense of anxiety or depression. This is much more than a self-help book because, ultimately, The Living Inquiries are meant to reveal that you are not the separate, limited self you thought you were. The peace and contentment you have been searching for are already right here - you were simply too busy paying attention to your self-centered stories to notice.
