Card weaving (also known as tablet weaving) is and extremely old and fascinating form of fabric contstruction. It generally produces a four-ply, warp-faced band weave. The durable and decorative qualities of these bands cannot be easily duplicated by any other method. This technique requires a very primitive loom, which is mostly homemade. It costs only a few dollars to assemble and is a portable as a book. It is an intriguing, complicated aparatus, but, in truth, it is astonishingly simple to operate - for anyone.
